Apple Podcasts Spotify Google Podcasts Overcast

For most people, the fitness goals they committed to on January 1st are broken.

It might even feel like a recurring story of the past few years.
You know you want to feel better, sleep better and look better.
Yet life is stuffed full of millions of conflicting priorities.

I think you’re going to love this podcast.

This is not your traditional “How to” podcast.

We discuss topics ranging from what iPhone application to use for tracking calories to how fitness can be used as medication covering up deeper questions in your life.

If you are a competitive athlete or a couch potato wanting to get started, there is a nugget of wisdom for you.

In this podcast episode, Jon Dale and I discuss how we have navigated our fitness journeys.

We have very different stories.

Four years ago Jon weighed in at 207 lbs.  That’s not too bad for a linebacker playing for Texas A&M.  But Jon is 5’ 10”.

Jon tells his story of adopting a lifestyle of fitness and completing his first Half-Ironman triathlon.  He is now at a lean and mean 160 lbs.

For me, I have not missed more than two weeks of running for almost twenty years.  I’ve climbed mountains, raced mountain bikes, ran ultra-marathons and completed a full Ironman triathlon.

Plug in your headphones, go for a walk, run, jog, bike, hike, or workout and enjoy the dialogue.

In this episode we discuss

(I know it’s a long list-it’s that good):

  • How Jon pursued a lifestyle of fitness and lost 50+ lbs over four year
  • Which iPhone application you should use to monitor your calories
  • Why running is the perfect offload of stress if you have young kids at home
  • How I used Fitness as medication for attempting to answer deeper questions in my masculine journey
  • Why conquest and adventure is the missing ingredient when you are riding a stationary bike or running on a treadmill
  • How Fitness can negatively be used as a synthetic concoction as proof that you are tough
  • How becoming a morning person will enable you to be faithful in your fitness routine
  • Why even 15 minutes of exercise is better than skipping a workout
  • Why 10 week training plans are not going to work for your next race
  • Why most people don’t start their first marathon because they get injured
  • How to fight discouragement and stop comparing yourself to others
  • Why you should stop going to meet friends for coffee and meet them at a trailhead instead
  • Why it is so important to use fitness as a way to share life with other people
  • Why leaving your cell phone at home will help you enjoy yourself more when exercising
